If you like Passandra @Perki you might like Beth Alpha,  another mini cucumber with good flavour and prolific. I find the Beth germinated better.

I would like to try and grow some of the hanging basket type tomatoes this year as I am not great at the cordon varieties. I will get them from the nursery as young plants (not seeds) apologies if already mentioned, but which variety should I look for as a 'hanging' type? many thanks.
Maskotka has been recommended by several posters here. I'm trying them for the first time this year.
    Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border

I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful

Hope you have more luck than me.  The first ones I sowed this year never germinated.  I've just sown my last 3 seeds so keeping my fingers crossed.

I grew the one given free in gardeners world two years ago and had great success with Maskotka with both germination and taste. I am growing the ones given free in this years gardens world called Roma and I have 30 plants just pricked out into bigger pots. The last ones given free last year didn't do well at all I can't remember the variety.
  • My tomatoes are now ready to go out into the greenhouse. I’ve been hardening them off outside during the afternoons and now they have little flower buds forming. I go to a lot of trouble, expense etc.  to have a few tomatoes in late May, ( I hope.) Valerie

If you have 30 Roma @Plashing hope you have lots of room. They need about three foot square each! They don't grow up, they bush.

Yes the seeds I got (very cheaply I might add) from Premier Seeds germinated within a week and are now potted-on and about 5 inches high.

I would not be hardening off mine yet, nor thinking about planting them in the unheated greenhouse. Don't know where you are though.
Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.
