Hydrangea leaves developed brown stripe from stem

Hello all,
Our hydrangea bush is taking a turn for the worse. Over the past few days the lower leaves have developed a brown streak emanating from the leaf steam, and growing bigger. The leaves themselves feel limp compared to the unaffected leaves.
In addition, some of the other leaves have turned red which I believe is a fungus?
The plant is in a shaded position and the soil isn’t great, although it was planted in compost last year. I spread hydrangea fertilizer 4 days ago, so maybe the brown striping is in some way related to that?
Any advice would be appreciated, and thanks in advance.
