waste potato barrel compost

Is it a good idea to put waste potato barrel compost on the area I intend to put my brussel sprouts

  • I can't see why not provided you remove all the potato roots to avoid the possibility of little potatoes appearing amongst your sprouts :)

Even if you miss any, little potato plants wouldn't be hard to pull out. Brassicas do like to be firmed in well though, which is not so easy if it's a fluffy compost, so I would fork it into the soil rather than just spreading it in a layer on top.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
