What plant and other problems.
Planted 7 years ago. Not sure of name. Flowered first time late last year. This year leaves tatty and a few weeks ago 5 new plants started growing underneath plant. Do I just leave them alone. See pics.

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I have ne with a finer cream strip than yours and which I cleverly planted out last autumn on the grounds that winters here are mild. It wasn't - long, cold, wet and frozen periods which turned the top to mush but I left it as I could see buds down the stem and, lo and behold, it has lots of new growth down the stem.
I dare say as it matures that new plants will pop up like yours and then I shall either leave them or dig them out and pot the up to plant elsewhere or share with friends.
Are you not in the UK @michaelechambers? Even milder areas of the south Uk had harsher weather than they're used to. Variegated ones are less sturdy, as already said - and is quite normal for any variegated plant.
