Is this blight?

Returned from work today to find most of our tomatoes looking like this..

A bit of searching seems to point towards blight, but hoping somebody here will convince me otherwise.

    Sorry … I think you’re right. That’s blight 😢

if there are any toms anywhere near ripening I would pick them and ripen them indoors. If the green ones are firm they can be used for chutney. All is not lost … quite.

    What a shame @BrixtonGardener.
It's not much consolation, but lots of people have been in the same boat.
Hopefully, you can salvage some as @Dovefromabove describes.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thanks @Fairygirl and @Dovefromabove

Yeah, real shame, but suppose to be expected with the damp weather we’ve had. Time to do a bit of cutting and bagging.

You could try using an aspirin spray on any tomato plants that haven’t been affected yet. James Wong recommends this as a preventative measure against blight. I can’t remember the actual details without looking it up.

Thanks @Skylarks. There's one in a planter that we're holding out hope for, it's not so badly affected. Will try the aspirin spray trick, although I'm always a bit sceptical when the only online reference is from the Daily Mail.

I have his Grow for Flavour book and it says dissolve 1/4 to 1/2 of a 300g tablet of soluble aspirin in 1l of water. A single application is supposed to work as long as the plant is sprayed before it’s been affected. He does go on to say he sprays once a month.

With aspirin being so cheap, it’s worth a go. I’ve sprayed mine once and keep meaning to do it again. The leaves on my tomato plants are looking very tatty, so far, no black bits on the stems 🤞
