I'm growing tomatoes and cucumbers in my greenhouse, I have a lot of flowers on the plants and no cucumbers, and I have a lot of tomatoes and there is no sign at all of them going red. Can anybody give me any suggestions as to what is going on please.
They are looking fine to me. The weather has been a bit up and down, and as tomatoes don't ripen under 10° at night, or over 30° in the day it is just taking time this year. As for the cucumbers they only just look big enough to start fruiting. They will have male flowers to start with ( depending on variety, even my F1 has had some) so this month you should see fruit.😁
Technically you shouldn't grow tomato and cucumber in the same green house. Not because it causes problems, but they need different conditions. I can't see from your pictures, but it's recommended that cucumbers get grown in the warmest inner part, even with maybe a plastic ,"shield" across and tomatoes near the door for ventilation.
I agree with both the above and think they look fine - my F1 cuc. in the greenhouse was that size before fruit started setting. I can see your tomatoes have started turning slightly yellow, which is the first stage in ripening. I've had maybe a dozen ripe toms so far, but the majority are still ripening or growing due to the fluctuations in weather (tomato plant growth slows considerably when over 27C and below 16C. Ideal is 21 to 24C)
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
Nanny Beach, Thank you very much for that, its too late for me to do anything about that this year but I will certainly remember what you have said for next year. Regards Dian
