Viburnum Tinus
Can anyone please tell me if Viburnum Tinus would be OK grown under trees? I have a post and rail fence I want screening so plan (hopefully) to put at least 5 or more along the fence. There are a couple of oak trees and a birch tree that overshadows the fence in parts so quite dappled shade from them both. Just wondered if they would be OK. I also have heavy clay soil.

As the trees are deciduous, they should get plenty of moisture over autumn and winter, which will hopefully keep them going in drier conditions. If you can add some organic matter to the soil, and do that regularly, that will improve the clay, and help retain moisture over drier spells. Compost, leaf mould, rotted manure etc. If you grow annuals of any kind, the spent compost is also good, as is 'home grown' compost.
The clay itself is fine for them
