Pruning a Red Robin

Hi

Can someone please advise me on the best way / time to prune my Red Robin? It's a very well established bush, 7 - 8ft tall. However, I want to make it more compact and the foliage more dense, and I'm uncertain how to go about this.

Many thanks!

You can prune them back now. New growth should follow. On an establish plant, they should recover and sprout new growth that would make it more dense.
  • Thanks. How far should I prune into the bush?

You can prune back as far as you want. But if you are just creating a more dense form, you can just prune back around a foot from the tips.
