Vodka is often relatively flavourless, so should work well with fruit. Look at all the Polish plum and damson flavoured vodkas! My favourite gin is rhubarb flavoured, that might well work. Never made any myself, so no recipes to offer, sorry.
I'm not keen on gin so we make our liqueurs with white rum. By the time we've put a fudge ton of sugar in it I doubt if I'd know the difference really!
Virtually any fruit can be mixed with it, and herbs too. We makes lots of flavoured alcohol (hic), using either Gin or Vodka. Sloes wont' be ripe until about Oct/Nov, so you'll have to hold onto the Vodka for a while. It only takes about 6 weeks to steep the Sloes in the Vodka, so quite quick to make. We also make a Sloe Port, which requires Brandy to be added to the Sloe Gin.
If you want to use fruit that is available now (either bought or homegrown), try Rhubarb and Ginger vodka. You'll need to by the Ginger, but it's really delicious. We have also just made some Strawberry Vodka, and a Rosemary one too.
Damson vodka is good and you could also have a go at Limoncello by adding lemons to your vodka or doing the blackcurrant version whose name escapes me. Recipes online of you google.

Or you could use blackcurrants and make your own cassis 😋😋...
