Please help me rescue my dahlias
Despite Monty's strict advice to stake my dahlias - I didn't (schoolgirl error not to repeated next year). However, I now have to try and salvage this year's plants.
Many of the stems were blown over in the current strong winds. They are currently looking really limp as if they've been pulled out of the ground, however, when I follow the stems down to the ground, I can't see any break points from the tuber underground. I have now staked them (locking the stable door after the horse has bolted I know).
Do you think the best plan of action is to cut the current stems off and hope for a
lazarus-esque recovery, or just leave them and hope for the best? Or is there something else I could do?
