Fatsia Japonica Variegata losing variegation

H all - we have a lovely and healthy plant but the latest leaves do not show any signs of variegation. Anyone have any ideas please? Thanks

    Hi - two possibilities:
    1. it is in too much sun (they really like shade). But if the plant is really healthy, it might not be this.
    2. Or it is reverting, and so the green bits need to be removed so they don't take over.
Mine suffered initially because I planted it in too much sun. I moved it 1m over into the shade, and it has thrived. Sorry, others may have more sophisticated knowledge than me!

Thanks - it does get sun for half the day at least which is more than we would like but it is really thriving. As is a Spider's Web version that is in a similar position elsewhere in the garden.

They're all better in a shadier location, although they can cope with some sun if the soil is fine.
It's quite likely that it is reverting, as is common in many variegated plants because they're weaker than the green version. It can be due to stress.
Sun tends to burn the foliage more than anything, and bleach it.

The main thing to remember is that the Spider's Web one really isn't hardy, so will probably need winter protection indoors.  The variegated one is less hardy than the green one, but will manage in most of the UK. How well it does will depend on where you are,and your local climate and conditions.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
