Crabapple tree leaves turning yellow

msqingxiaomsqingxiao Posts: 482
Hi all, we bought a small crabapple tree in May this year and have been growing it in a pot as we haven't decided on the final location for it yet. It has been doing fine until now, except for some aphids which have disappeared lately. But leaves have started turning yellow this week. The only thing that I did recently was to water it thoroughly after the heat wave and added some compost to the pot as some roots were exposed.

I was reading that it could be due to a disease called Apple Scab? If it is, there doesn't seem to be anything that I can do about it?

Thanks!

I think it’s suffering from drought. It needs much more water  … it probably needs a watering can full every day in the heatwave.
And it needs planting in the ground ASAP.

Thanks Dove! I touched the soil and think it's moist 1 inch below the surface so I'm not sure whether it has too much water or too little. It's been raining in London lately and my other plants in pots all have moist soil from the rain alone.

Will get it planted in the ground asap for sure!
