Monkey puzzle tree ‘fruit’ collection

Does anyone know how to collect fruit from a very high money puzzle tree?  TIA

Do you know if those are male or female cones?  If female  and if they’ve been pollinated, I think they’ll fall to the ground when ripe

You can’t persuade monkeys to pick them … apparently 😉

  • I’m pretty sure it’s a female tree. The fruit does fall but all I’m left with is dried out, sometimes mouldy seeds lying on the grass.  I’ll take a pic of them when I get a chance.
Yeah, a monkey would be most handy 🐒 🤣

My thought is that unless there’s a male tree in the neighbourhood, mature enough to produce pollen, then yours won’t be pollinated,  which is perhaps why the seeds are disappointing …

  • Ahh, that makes sense. Such a shame as it’s a beautiful tree and is admired by so many. Thanks for your help. 😃

It is a magnificent example indeed. So often they can look out of place but that one really works with the architecture of that house and it has enough space too.  And it does look very healthy … not always the case, sadly.
