Maidenhair, spores or scales? Please help, this was my grandma’s plant ❤️

Hi!
This maidenhair was  almost dying on the patio after my grandma passed away. I brought the plant home two years ago it has been slowy recovering. It now has these brown areas on the underside of the leaves, which don’t seem spores to me (not sure though…)
Please help me figure out (see pics)
thanks!

Has it been in a sunny spot. May be leaf scorch

Best place for them is somewhere cool, out of direct sun and a slightly damp atmosphere, so no nearby radiators. Mine lives in an unheated North facing porch and is happy (except when the dog tries to eat it on the way out!). If it does get a bit dry occasionally it is quite forgiving and soon puts out new leaves once returned to the status quo and I am sure yours will do the same if you can find it somewhere more suitable :)
  • Thank you both! I have just repotted (the soil was really old) and, following your advice, changed the plant to a place with softer light. Hope that does it.
I still find those brown formations suspicious though, since they are only on the underside of the leaves and the tips are bent. And when i lift it with a tweezer and touch it there is a bit of a dust.

No not spores as they would be all on the underside of the fronds.
Go with advice about moving it.
    They do need humidity.
