I.D yellow flower in hedge.

Hi. In my old house there was a yellow flower which grew up into the hedge each year looking really nice. It looked like a Coreopsis Golden Sphere. I tried to grow that on my current house but no luck. Any ideas or, ideas on a nice yellow/pink or ? strong coloured flower to grow through the hedge please?
