Cherry Blossom tree problem

Hi

I have a cherry blossom tree which, as you can see from the photos, below, looksa little sick. It gets blighted with aphids every year, despite washing 2 years ago and now looks hideous. No cherries have grown for at least 3 years. There aren't that many branches and none ever seem to sprout, meaning I'm a little worried about pruning. Please can anyone advise what is the best way to save it?

One year one of our cherries in the orchard looked just like yours. We hoped that the birds would come and take the blackflies away. Some did.
We didn't spray with chemicals but the parts we could reach we did use soapy water.
If you can get a hose to the tree you could try blasting them off.
Our tree did survive and thankfully hasn't had the problem since apart from the blackbirds taking all the cherries!
