A solitary vine weevil larva?

I haven't dealt with vine weevil  - or any larvae - before so looking for advice.

I had all my houseplants outside for the past week and am now repotting before bringing them back in. I found one fat white larva with no legs and a brown head (vine weevil?) just under the surface of an asparagus densiflorus Sprengeri. I kept looking any didn't see another, so I potted it up with a fresh mix and popped the plant back in the kitchen.

Of course, now I'm wondering what are the chances the little pest was solitary and should I have done something else to keep the pests out of the kitchen?

Indeed. Not a lot you can do other than being vigilant and regularly checking your other plants.
It's unlikely it's happened while your plants were outside recently though. They won't have been laid and formed in that short a space of time. It's more likely they would have been from last year, and the damage has occurred earlier this year. As they're houseplants, you might be lucky, and that could be the only one.

I would inspect the roots of plants for hidden larvae, wash the roots and repot them in fresh compost/soil.

I think that's the safest solution @Eustace. Unlikely to be only one of the little bandits  :)

Thanks all. Good to know they have probably been there since last year.

Only last week, I was thinking I've been really lucky in avoiding pests.

Hope you can get to grips with it.  :)

I found weevils in my purple loosetrife plants in the spring, what I thought was just one or two weevils turned out to be 15 or so, they were really deep into the roots and I basically has to remove all of the soil to get to them...
