Thank you Fairygirl. I have some blood fish and bone feed which I used elsewhere in the garden in the spring. As the calla lily is in the same pot a (as said earlier) in a pot with some type of, alpine/rockery type shrub. We were thinking of putting the shrub in a empty corner of the garden, I am hoping to find and the rhizome and plant in another pot. I’m guessing this would be best done next spring or should I do this before the winter sets in??
I don't grow Callas I'm afraid - they generally don't survive here. Much as I like them, I can't be bothered overwintering them etc. I'm too lazy I think it's worth getting the other plant out. It looks like oregano or thyme, or something similar, but it's a bit difficult to tell from the photo. It certainly looks a bit woody and past it's best, so it's possibly easier to move it rather then the Calla. If it is one of those herbs, they like a sunny free draining site, but not lots of food, so you could stick that in another pot just now, and keep the Calla in that one where you can give it more attention. There's a lot of weeds etc in there too, so it would benefit from having the soil refreshed and some food as @KeenOnGreen says. Lack of nutrition is quite likely the reason it hasn't flowered. Depends on how you feel about them both though. The Calla would be nicer in an ornamental pot so that you can enjoy it and have it as a feature plant.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thanks Fairygirl. I haven’t intentionally grown the Calla, I must be lucky 😊. I guess I’m a lazy (very novice may I add) gardener as any plants I have planted are ones that tend to look after themselves😁. There were so many pots when we moved here, I have worked my way through most of them but think most have thrive on neglect. We have now only just managed to tame the garden. I think the first year we moved approx 60 large bin bags of weeds, overgrown plants etc before we could see what we had. I have cleared the pot with the calla in of excess weeds several times. I’m quite chuffed with myself a little as have managed to bring a couple of roses and a fuchsia back to life. I am still getting plants emerging, this year I have four lovely hollyhocks growing nicely. (Maybe not where I would like them but pretty anyway.
