Hi, I’m new to gardening and would like some advice please. I moved my Sambucus Nigra Black Lace and all the leaves are now wilting. I now realise I should not have moved it however, I’d like to know if there is any way to save it please? Thank you.
Mine droops a bit if the new growth is in the sun on a hot day. It has been pretty resilient after being broken in two by a fencing contractor last year, it's put on tons of new growth this year. You could try taking some cuttings in case you do lose it, I did from the broken off bit and have got two now and gave one away.
It'll need plenty of water. Probably a couple of bucketsful, poured on slowly so it soaks in and doesn't run off the surface, every 2 or 3 days unless you get heavy persistent rainfall.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
Acquired one last year as a gift and spent last summer as the leftover hardwood stem, leafless. Left over winter, presumed dead, now over two metres tall 🤷
