Mole digging beside our pond

We get a lot of moles in our garden. Unfortunately one of them is currently digging a mound in the gravel right at the edge of our pond. Obviously we don't want it to start digging up underneath our pond because it could cause a leak and we've already had one of those this year (the first one wasn't caused by a mole, I'm fairly sure btw. My dad wants to get the mole catcher out but I'm wondering if there's a more humane way of getting rid of it? We've tried simply trampling the molehill down but it's a very persevering mole which just rebuilds again.

Thank you for any advice.

I had not heard about the pickled onion cure when we had moles and I would give it a try. If it doesn't work, the mole catcher is your only option, I'm afraid.
