How come my Rosemary seedlings bottom leaves have gone dry and purplish-brown?

The most bottom leaves, just above their cotyledons(which i'm aware is normal for them to die and drop off) have gone dry and a purplish brown colour, almost completely purple on the underside. Is this from too much sunlight? Help appreciated!

Not a problem. Lower leaves on most plants drop off, whether at an early stage or later on. Evergreens will always drop some at various stages of the year.  :)
If you have them inside on a window [it looks like that may be the case?] you can certainly give them a little protection during the hottest part of the day. Drawing a curtain/blind, or just moving them to a cooler window, or away from the window.

They look nice and healthy, so they could really be outside, in a slightly shady spot to prevent them getting scorched. Tiny plants are far more prone to weather extremes than bigger ones. Remember to pot on if the roots are filling the pots they're in, and they should make decent sized plants by the end of summer    :)

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
