    Hello and welcome.
    Well.....what to say?
At first glance all looks well but then you cut one open.
Are they still robust before you cut them?
Could they be still ok for use?
Are they being watered well? If in doors over the last few weeks has it been too hot for them?
Sorry not really helping you by giving an answer.
  • Do you think they look okay from the outside? I didn't think so.

Quite robust - perhaps more robust than usual.

Not been watered apart from rain, so I think it could be dehydration/deficiency.

Some varieties … particularly Italian strains … are very ridged … is that what concerns you?  If so that’s nothing to worry about, but I would pick them smaller than that.

They need lots of water … I give my courgette
plants a couple of gallons per plant per day … unless we get a lot of really heavy rain, then I miss a day.

Then they’ll grow more quickly and the skins will be less tough.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • I thought it could be lack of water, but our other 3 plants, feet away are fine. And the same variety as the other plants. F1 Tarmino, which are 'normal' looking.
  • Maybe Tarmino are a cross of an Italian strain and this plant hasn't hybridised.

Have you tested it to see if it's suffering from bitter fruit. Just wipe your finger on the open end, and touch your tongue if it's overly bitter destroy the plant, it will make you sick.
  • Nope, not bitter
