What is this seedling?

Hello - my dad found, and planted up, this seedling - we have no idea what it is - what are your thoughts, brilliant plant people?!

    Could it be an alder?

    It looks look very similar but the leaves seem more Serrated - also the veins alternate from the main vein running up the leaf. This one is red further up the stem though, like a red alder 🤔. Thanks for your thoughts 😁
