Bug Spray

Hi

Can anyone recommend a home made solution to get rid of bugs from flowers?

Would need more info. What 'bugs' are they? Most insects are highly beneficial.  :)

What sort of bugs are on your flowers?  Are you sure they're harmful ... could they  be beneficial insects?  There's a lot of them about  :)

  • I want to dry out some of my flowers and sometimes they tend to have insects on them when getting them indoors. It might not be a bug spray I need maybe it is just a matter of watering them down before bringing them indoors.

Another problem is when I get out to tidy up the garden patch a little, I get stung by something, I presume it is a bug and get red patches on my skin.

If your flowers have little  black pollen beetles on them, when you cut them put them in a vase of water in a darkened room, and leave a door open to the sunshine ... within a few hours the pollen beetles will head back outside to the sunshine.

As for the stings and red patches ... it could be anything from midges or ants, to a sensitivity to some of the plants.

It's no good spraying against random insects if you don't know what's causing the problem, and very few of the insects found on plants actually bite humans. Using insecticide kills the good insects as well as the bad and that will cause more problems for your garden later on.

It would probably be helpful for you to wear long sleeves and gloves when gardening, and treat any sore patches with Anthisan cream.  It works for me.  :)

    Hope that's helpful  :)

Only experience I can give is that very diluted washing up liquid in water gets rid of black fly on my roses and beans but i bow to Dovefromabove s experience.
