Rabbits

Our peas, beans, sunflowers, raspberries, creeping savoury and possibly calendula (which simply never turned up except for one sad lonely plant) have been absolutely devastated this year. Javib erected a flimsy bit of fence around some which have survived I'm inclined to blame the rabbits rather than voles or slugs.

Fencing the whole garden is impossible, though I may get part covered. Has anyone had any luck with growing sacrificial plants or ones which are suggested to "deter" rabbits?

I don't think sacrificial plants would work, they would just eat them and your plants. Could you fence just the bit where you want to grow vegetables? Fence netting has to be buried a bit as rabbits dig.

If you grow flowers, the RHS has a list of plants that rabbits prefer not to eat.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Fence has to be about 18 inches below surface else thy will just dig under it. High raised beds work with me ie, 2 sleepers high s about 18" high

We had to fence the 2 main veg areas in our garden many years ago due to rabbit damage. It is chicken wire and about 18 inches and as @wrightt has said it is buried under the soil.
It has worked, we now just have the pigeons and mice!!!!
