You can also get seed for Knautia (both the red and the pastel pinks), and they self-sow exuberantly.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Looks great — keep deadheading; mine (Butterfly Blue and Flutter Rose Pink) kept flowering until December last year

The standard knautia macedonia is dark red as
