Phlomis

Evening,

im thinking getting Phlomis tuberosa ‘Amazone’ but wondered if anyone else has it and could provide some pics/details re height and size? Although websites do provide some info, it’s often better to get some first hand experience.

    Verbena bonarensis would do well so long as it's sunny and you're not too far north

    I have plenty of bonarensis so don’t really want any more!

    The Phlomis was recommended to me on here to replace the Monarda I have which is unfortunately covered in mildew.

    I had phlomis tuberosa in my last garden and it definitely grew much taller than my phlomis russeliana and had darker leaves.   The soil was fertile alkaline loam over a clay subsoil and we had good rainfall.  Both were in full sun tho tuberosa had more shade from teh west when the sun was lower.

    The RHS site says tuberosa can get to 1.5m and mine certainly did that and more but then I also had a thalictrum nearby, advertised as 1m high that got to 2m so maybe it was just my soil.

    Amazone should be smaller and only get to 1.2m.
