Peony help

Hello!

Hoping someone can help - purchased a young peony and all of a sudden the leaves are drying out and turning brown, the small buds it had dried out too - I know it seems obvious but I have been watering regularly so am a bit puzzled! Unless young peony plants need a lot of water and I just haven't been giving it enough??
Have attached a picture if it helps!
Thanks in advance! :)

Your plant is young, so though peonies are said to need sun, it needs a little extra care. Its leaves aren't as tough and it hasn't the size to help it cope, especially with the very hot sun we have had this year. Find a spot for it in partial shade and keep up the watering. You can cut off the very brown bits, but leave as much green leaf as you can to help it photosynthesise. This should help it make a stronger plant for next year. It will die back over winter, so will start next year with fresh leaves in any case :)
  • Thank you! On closer inspection I've noticed some of the leaves are sealed like a cocoon with webbing, any idea if this may be the cause / what it is? Will move to a shaded spot and see if it picks up :)

If you unroll the leaves you will find a little caterpillar inside. Destroy!
  • It was a creepy weird spider 😱🙈 needless to say it was swiftly removed!
