We actually slept quite well last night despite the forecasted 20c + and didn't wake up till 9.20 am.  It was already 30.1c then. As I had to pick up the paper and a prescription I nipped out in the car, thank god for air-con.
We followed the advice to keep windows and curtains closed which seems to be working but makes it so gloomy inside. 27.+ inside, 31.1 outside. Looking at our forecast, it doesn't look as hot as yesterday was but I think we're benefiting from a cooler breeze coming up from the west.
One of OH's feet looks swollen so am surmising he got bitten the night before when we had dinner outside on the terrace. Can't see any marks though, so a bit peculiar. He tried soaking it in a bowl of cold water last night but it's still swollen this morning.

  • Having no air-con, but 30 degrees inside, I slept under a wet towel.
The day started with 28 degrees inside, now we have 31 degrees and outside 35 degrees.
I would give everything for a nice long rain tonight. It’s bone-dry here.

I've just been standing outside in the rain. Very refreshing B)
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

@Ergates, that's hopeful, perhaps we'll get it later. It doesn't feel as hot as it did yesterday afternoon and looking out the side window west, I can see clouds! Fingers crossed!

We currently have 38.6 C outside and 28 C inside. Windows and curtain closed seems to be working.
I can't see much in the way of clouds yet but the breeze has got up so I hope that's a promising sign.

There's a proper hot wind here today, reminiscent of the Föhn winds that plagued my province in my home country. Not experienced that here before.
  • @wild edges please send us some rain 🙏

We had that yesterday and again today … it’s actually not very nice to breathe outside here …

I didn't say I didn't want it, I merely observed that we had it
    Devon.
