where have my runner beans gone?

I planted out my runner beans which i had growing in the greenhouse. the next day several had had the tops eaten off and some had the leaves stripped. I did use a slug replant and barrier so don't think its slugs. I then tried netting around it in case it as birds but several more have been eaten. I planted over a dozen and only have a few left. any ideas what else could be eating them?

It probably is slugs and snails despite your best attempts to prevent them.
Mine usually do well, but with so much wet weather this year there are masses of them around.
My first batch of dwarf French beans got eaten, and the second batch, I've just planted out the 3rd in hope...
I planted 30 runner beans split between 2 locations - 15 had all the tops removed when they got to about 3ft and leaves badly munched, the others (planted in a flower border) are untouched.

Go out at night and check for slugs. We think ours got nobbled by deer up at the allotment so we've had to replant this week (just as a heatwave is starting)  🙄
  • Thanks for the reply will keep trying and checking and planting.
  • Have not thought about mice!

I agree with @mikeymustard and would go out with a torch after dark.  Almost certainly molluscs which are nocturnal feeders (as are many other plant munchers.)
