Unknown ‘scars’ on tree branches

I wonder if anyone can identify these markings I’ve recently discovered on a new planted Amelanchier tree. Several of the branches have these marks. Thanks.

It looks like there might have been an injury and the bark has split. Maybe it was bashed?

I’m wondering whether that’s sawfly damage?

@fidgetbones or @chicky or someone … what do you think?

I did wonder about sawfly, I had an adult sawfly on my roses earlier in the year and a picture was posted on the rose thread of the signs to look out for when they lay their eggs in the stems. I hope no lasting damage is caused.
