Flopping Lamb's ears

We have a few clumps of stachys byzantina in our garden. They look great when throwing up their flower spikes and when first in flower, but then they sprawl everywhere, look untidy and smother nearby plants. I would cut them back but they are constantly smothered in bees, so that would be a shame. I feel I should stake them, but it's too late now as the stalks are bent. But there are hundreds of flowers. I surely can't stake each individually?

Any tips at keeping these beauties under control?

    Welcome to the forum.

They can be tricky when heavily rained on. They tend to slump. I would wait until the flowering has stopped and cut them back a bit. I let mine sprawl.
  • Thank you!

Yes, we seem to have the same issue with sisyrinchium too. They look fantastic until it rains. We have a lot of both of these plants so it makes the garden look a right state!

There are dwarf and carpet-forming types.
