Fuschia confusion / confuchsion

Hi all!
I put a fuchsia Dollar Princess at the edge of a raised bed a couple of years ago; it romped away for a couple of months, but I made the mistake of going on holiday (remember that?! :) ) and by the time I got back in late September it'd faded away to nothing.
I was surprised to see a tiny sprig reappear last year, but it seems to be having a better go at it this year.

Anyone any ideas what's happening?  Raised bed too dry?  Shouldn't have left it unattended so soon (well, 2 months) after it was planted?  Do the various blotches suggest anything or is it on the way back?

I think the milder winter most of us had has helped it to survive. I would just cut off those diseased looking leaves, give it a good feed and water and cross your fingers. Fuchsias are mainly late summer flowers so there's hope yet.
