I just remove the flower stems on mine. The foliage stays on them better than the bigger ones.
I'm assuming you mean the really small ones, that only get to around 6 to 8 inches,  as opposed to just a small variety of the usual types  :)

The one in particular I am interested in is Vision Violet

I believe Vision Violet is a one of the geranium sanguineums which I would describe more as low growing rather than dwarf like the alpine varieties.

I find that the sanguineums I grow (can't remember which ones they are -sorry!) are well behaved most of the time but can get a bit sprawly and untidy in mid summer. I don't have the patience to dead head them so tend to shear them back when most of the flowers are spent and it's all looking a bit untidy (that will probably be in 2 or 3 weeks time). So long as it's not done too late you should get a nice tidy mound of new leaves forming quite quickly and maybe a late flush of flowers. I usually water them after cutting back - but it is dry here.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
