Help with tree ID please 🌿 possible exotic ...

A friend has a tree that he thought was an American elm, but now thinks not. Any IDs? It might an exotic... Any help very welcome.

Where is this tree UK or else where?
Definitely Ulmus sp...common name Elm.
Will need to research American elm.
To be so healthy and old it is not a common UK one or it would have had Dutch elm disease and be dead.

Thanks. The tree is in north London. The owner has an NGS garden and is a collector of rare plants. I agree that at this mature height the beetle might have attacked the tree by now. I don't know about genetic variance.

There are a good number of mature elms across the country, according to the Elm Project. So, not as rare as perhaps thought.

No blinking help. Sorry.
Above my pay grade.
Except that Ulmus laevis ..A common elm sp...European white elm should be easier to id.The flowers and fruits are distinct because they are long stalked and flutter in the slightest breeze.

If garden is in NGS then the owner may know the id of this handsome specimen.
Worth an e mail to ask.

I was a bit confused by this. It is the owner of the tree that's trying to find an ID.

Is it perhaps a smooth leaved elm? Ulmus minor var minor

Thanks. Were these from a small tree?

I'm no tree expert. I think my friend will have to wait until it flowers and try and get more ID clues from that.
