Help to identify a plant please

I bought some seeds on Amazon called Astrantia!! They were only £1.99 for 10 and so I thought I'd give them a go, loving the plant and knowing how difficult they are to germinate. Well, I didn't get any astrantias but I did get this, so have been growing it in a pot mostly out of curiosity. It germinated out of one of the seeds, so know it was from the pack of ten and not a compost weed.

A bargain is obviously not a bargain when you pay 1.99 online!  Just hope I haven't inadvertently grown a suspect species from an imported seed.

Many thanks

Kay

Hello Kay and welcome to the forum. It could be a borage seedling. There is another plant called green alkanet that also looks very similar.

  • It looks much like the teasel I have growing in my garden - a fabulous plant and the gold finches love it!

    That’s a teasel.

Thank you for your replies.  I've had another look at the plant this morning and there are prickles on the front of the leaves. So, having checked out google images, following your thoughts that it is a teasel, I firmly believe it is a teasel.  Shall continue to grow it as we have goldfinches in the garden and I'm sure they will love it.

Thank you for helping me solve the mystery
