Reading this thread made me realise that my Madonna lilies are in full bloom and I can't remember noticing their powerful and exotic fragrance, which I can usually smell from 5m or more away. I've just been out and had to actually stick my nose in a flower to smell it! It must be a weather-related phenomenon from earlier in the season as it's been lovely and warm here today. I can smell the roses, stocks and phlox just fine, so unlikely to be covid-related. How very odd.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
As I've said, with comments from others too, I've come to the conclusion it's the erratic weather. Here in the centre of the country we had a very dry April and a very wet May. I've had other plants and shrubs flowering at unusual times as well, some scents are actually stronger than usual. All very bizarre.
