Rambling rose pruning

Can anyone advise me on pruning a two year old rambling rose positioned on a fence. It’s just finished flowering. I have no clue with regards to pruning.

    Do you know i it is a repeat flowering rambler or a once only flower in summer rambler? Most only flower once. However, if it is only 2 years old I wouldn't prune it this year.

     It’s a rosa albertine I’m sure it only flowers once. We’ve had it three years but has been on the fence for two years. It’s flowered lovely this year but just nervous about pruning back. When would you prune it ?

    Yes, she just flowers the once. Rambling roses are usually pruned once they finished flowering but I usually do my Albertine in winter when I’m doing all the other roses.

    Rambling roses don't 'have' to be pruned.
    If you want it to roam about you can just let it do its own thing, or just prune bits off that are in the wrong place.
    I had 3 big rambling roses on a pergola and didn't prune them in about 20 years - they looked magnificent.
    Of course if you want to control it, then as said above, prune when the flowers are done.

    I would cut off the dead flowers, taking about 6" of stem with them when it's finished flowering, cut off anything that looks messy, or is rubbing on stems you want to keep, or growing in the wrong direction. Cut off dead bits and ill looking bits. Just tidy it up, it doesn't need much pruning at its age.
