Ideas for perennial shrubs / flowers

Hello Forkers!
I've been busy clearing some beds of these wild geraniums. I'm ready to replan the space. The space is SW facing, free draining soil, about 2m by 2m over hung by a sizeable photinia bush  to the right and 2 smaller buxus to the left.
After some ideas for planting..? .the garden is blues purples pinks whites and some splashes of yellow from hypericum but not much. I have verbena and salvia amistad in pots ready to go somewhere but don't know if it'll be too hot for them there as aftermoonevening sun means  it's sun drenched all day. I think.i need some mid height and then ground cover. The verbena may be too tall.there
Give me your ideas! GO!

Verbena and salvia will both love full sun and the verbena, if bonariensis, is so light in structure it will appear to float above everything else so will not be too tall.

Take cuttings of your salvia Amistad as it is not reliably hardy and you may need spares next spring.

Cistus salvifolius if you want a reliable smallish shrub, ceanothus if you want to go larger.

I've just googled cistus salvofolius, that's lovely! I need some more white so it could be a winner! Thank you x

How about some nepeta walkers low for the front with some Mexican fleabane (purple and white)?  Bees will love the nepeta.   Verbena at the back and maybe some achillea too (you could get a yellow one or white) as they can both be left over winter as structure (with a mulch on the verbena if you’re in a cold spot) before chopping them in spring to begin again.

Ooh thank you! Is nepeta Catmint that cats love? We seem to be a haven for  our neighbours cats so hoping not to make it too cozy for them....

Hi @NewbieGardener Yes it's catmint.  You may want to stay away from it if you have lots of cats around!

Mine gets a nightly visit from one of our locals.  Luckily the plant is big enough and strong enough to cope. Haha!
