Grass issue

I have been having issues with moss so I mowed the lawn raked through and put down moss control now I have this white chalky substance covering the lawn and some on my Cherry tree. Can anyone advise what this could be?

The white chalky stuff on your cherry looks like bird poo to me!
Can't say about your lawn. :)
The only cure for moss is to change the conditions, it likes damp shade.

Looks like a deposit left by an incontinent pigeon.

    Or even a Dove ?   ;)

The splashy effect does rather give the game away tho. A large bird deposit of some sort for sure :)

     :D  :D

Watch yourself tho - Sparrowhawk has been busy lately - came out of front door this am and a tell tale heap of feathers.  Never known it to do there before.

@philippasmith2  😊 Watched a goldfinch just manage to swerve out of the way of a male sparrowhawk’s  clutches in the feeder right in front of my kitchen window yesterday afternoon 😲.

More to the point we have a family of newly fledged peregrines nearby … I’m keeping a low profile 🕊 🦅

Can't help being envious of the Peregrines = but yes, keep your head down  :D

I was pleased to see a Buzzard overhead yesterday.  They are usually quite prolific here but seem to have been in short supply recently. Nothing quite beats that eerie call :)

We have buzzards here too @philippasmith2 … I often hear them and see them circling above the garden … last summer we saw three together several times … summer so presumably a pair and youngster … it’s a good spot here … I’ve not yet seen red kites from the garden but they’re not far away … and a couple of years ago I drove along a narrow country lane at dusk with a merlin zig-zagging ahead of me 😊

Apologies to @jacarter14W_4BPYz6 for hijacking your thread with our bird tales/tails 😉… but the white deposit is bird poo … very probably pigeon … they do a lot of it … we have pigeons here too 😊
