I have discovered one of my Rose Bushes has Black spot

I looking for some guidance here please.

Last night, I was out in the garden. I noticed some Mark's on a couple of Rose leaves. The light was fading so this morning, I went out  for a proper look and I have discovered what seems to be Black spot on many of the Rose Leaves. I have investigated my other Rose's and so far they seem to be ok, thank fully.

I have done a Google search and cannot find many definite answers to sorting this out as most sites I have been on only discuss preventative measures rather than when the Black spot is present.

I could nip to B&Q shortly to get some spray but my question is, is it too late to use the fungicide spray now that I have the black spot? I ask this as the websites were saying to use it to prevent getting it.

Another question. Do I cut off the affected leaves?

Thank you 😁

Honestly?  I wouldn't worry about it.  A few of my rose bushes get black spot every year, some never do.  Some varieties are just more prone to it.  They still flower, the damaged leaves drop off in winter and healthy new ones come back in spring.

I used the spray like mad the first year, it didn't make any difference and I avoid chemicals now.  My roses still look lovely every summer!

Thank you for your response Fly Dragon. It still blooming beautifully and there are plenty of buds too. I wil keep and eye and see how it goes 😁
  • Spraying fungicides for a largely cosmetic issue is so disproportionate. All you can do is improve the cultivation conditions and hope next year there's less of it. It's a more long term approach but it's the only sound way to deal with minor issues like black spot. Good plant hygiene aka collecting affected leaves and mulching the base in the winter to suppress any spores is the best way.
