Yet another Rose!

Silver surferSilver surfer Posts: 4,719
Seen in a walled garden in Perthshire at 1,000ft.
Delightful huge climbing rose. Old?
Yellow in bud, opens to small, white multi petal flowers.
As always your help is appreciated. Any suggestions please?

...my guess would be 'Goldfinch' [1907 rambler]

..the clues are.. multiflora/ wrinkled rugose 7 leaflet foliage, .. bristly pedicels... apricot buds, opening to light yellow quickly fading to white flowers with bright yellow stamens...  mostly thornless shoots but prickles on the back of the leaf stalks..
    ..stiff looking growth habit..
    East Anglia, England
  • it's rather beautiful!

It looks rather like my Malvern Hills rambler. Malvern Hills doesn't have a very strong fragrance and it repeat flowers, unlike Goldfinch, which is very fragrant and flowers once, in summer. But, after typing that I went out to check, MH only has 5 leaves and they are finer, so @Marlorena is right again!

    Both roses are lovely.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Sorry I forgot to mention...it was very fragrant.

    Fantastic.
Many thanks Marlorena  for extremely detailed answer. Much appreciated.
Rosa Goldfinch looks a perfect match.
    Respect...you really know your Roses!

Thank you Busy-Lizzie... I do not feel this one fits...It is a David Austin Rose ...Year of Introduction: 2000. To me mystery Rose appears much older.
