Bamboo Struggling - Help!

Hi,

Really hoping someone can help! I've recently planted (3 weeks ago) three golden bamboo plants. They were planted in very large tubs in the ground with a view to containing spread, with the soil being a 40:40:10 mix of sandy loam:manure:grit. There are well established golden bamboo plants alongside, so I know the location is OK.

Everywhere I've looked points to underwatering for the leaves to be curling in this way, but I'm struggling to see how this is the case. There was a period of a week that we were aware, but there was a lot of rain during that time.

I've attached photo's. Any thoughts on what to do would and how to salvage the situation would be very welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Jon

Give them each a bucketful of water twice a week until they are settled in.

What was the other 10%?  :)

  • Thanks @punkdoc. They’ve been watered well for the last 2 weeks… maybe too much now!!

    The 10% was grit.

Our bamboos aren't in pots but planted in the ground.
When we planted them out they sulked for many weeks and we thought that was it and they would die.
They didn't and are fabuolous specimen plants now.
So give them time and do keep watering them especially as they are in pots.
  • Thanks @bertrand-mabel, that’s really encouraging!
