Soil covering trunks of leylandii

Morning,
It seems that the people to the back of me have been doing some landscaping.
It seems that the people to the back of me have been doing some landscaping.
I was looking into the hedge yesterday to check for weeds and birds nests and noticed that they had tipped a lot of soil into the bottom of the hedge that divides our gardens. In some places it is about a foot high up against some of the trunks.
Will this cause issues? Rot? Disease?
Should I be getting down on the floor with a trowel and trying to move it away from the trunks?
Any advice would be appreciated.

However, it's tough stuff and may not affect it at all. Done slowly and carefully, it's actually possible to raise the soil level round conifers without doing any long term damage at all. I've done it before.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I may go out later and try and redistribute some of it anyway just to err on the side of caution.
