I have this one. It is ,indeed, vigorous. I'll fish out the label if someone hasn't id'd it by tomorrow😊

Thank you for your thoughts...so many Geraniums I have never studied them /got to grips with the names
I certainly believe it is a sterile Geranium as no evidence of any babies nearby.
It was a very handsome and striking specimen.
In a walled garden, 1,000ft up in the hills near Pitlochry. Perthshire. Scotland

Not Ann Folkard - it has yellowy foliage, and is airier in growth habit, with longer stems. Might be Patricia, as that's more compact.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Definitely not Ann Folkard - that sprawls and spreads, not a nice neat mound like that. And I don't think it's either of the ones in @B3 's pic either - they both have light eyes, not dark, and the leaves look too big and too light for it to be a sanguineum type. More likely something with G. psilostemon in its ancestry - maybe Patricia, or Anne Thompson.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

I'd say it's Geranium psilostemon, but I wonder if they've tied string around the lower part, it looks rather unnaturally compact, as these Geraniums sprawl somewhat...

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.

B3....Colour of centre of flower rule our Vision violet. and Hampshire purple.

Marlorena....didn't look for any string but cannot see any evidence in my pic.
    It was an immaculate shape.

  • I would agree with Maarlorena, everything about suggests psilostemon, but the shape of the flower is slightly different,  that can happen sometimes, even shades in colour can vary according to soil conditions.
