Leather Jacket

Hey everyone,

i’m wondering if anyone has successfully got rid of leather jackets in their lawn.

I treated them with namatodes in the spring, the starlings had a field day.

ive come home today to find big holes in my lawn. I was planning on re using the namatodes in September but now I’m wondering if I’ll have a lawn left by then.

would really appreciated some advice

thanks

tom

I’ve had success with nematodes. Have to keep the lawn damp for a couple of weeks to allow the nematodes to survive and do their thing. The ground also needs to be damp / soft at the time of application. I only every applied in mid-September, I always read that Spring application was questionable in terms of effectiveness as the larvae are quite mature and their tough(er) skins are more difficult for the nematodes to penetrate.
