Pear tree problem
Hi all ,just a quick question about my pear tree .The tree bloomed very well and there were lots of small pears about 10 cm in diameter ,but within the space of 2-3 weeks all of them apart from 2 have dropped off !! Please any ideas on what could have caused this ,the two that are left on are near the very top whether that's anything to do with it ?? Thanks in advance 😀

My sister in law has just moved into a new house and has a pear tree laden with small pears but it is covered in black spot. What causes the black and how does she get rid of it?
It's probably something fungal, and there are no treatments available in the UK to treat fungal infections of edibles as far as I know, and you don't want to be spraying something like Rose Clear on something you're going to eat as it will be absorbed into the fruit.
The usual advice is to pick up any fallen leaves and dispose of them in the waste and not on the compost. Look after the tree - make sure no weeds around the trunk, give it a feed and a mulch in spring and water if needed.
A tree in good health is much more able to fight off problems than a weak one.
And keep your fingers crossed for next year
