    Couple of possibilities.
Does the pot have drainage? If it doesn't or if it is inside an outer one that doesn't the roots may be rotting.
They don't like bright sunlight, they are adapted to shade in the rain forest. Bright , indirect light is fine. Mine stands in a dark corner with 2 windows, one behind and one in front, both to the side. It is perfectly happy and grows well there.
  • Ooh I don’t think it does - how would I know if the roots were rotting?
  • It’s not the light cos I know the pic shows it but it lives in the corner at the side of a window

Just put a pot on a side and pull it out :) it won’t get hurt and won’t care much for being disturbed either.

And if there is rot, just trim it off and wash the roots well. Monstera will pick up well after even if most of underground roots are gone. It has those air roots you can use for new start.
