Anyone knows what’s wrong with my carnation?

I find they like my south facing front garden free draining rubbish stoney soil, they don't get fed or watered
Mine too - Mrs Sinkins has lived there very happily for many years and she still smells wonderful :)

    Billericay - Essex

That's exactly the point  - the site and the soil conditions  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Ok, so I’ll move them to a south facing site and check out the soil conditions. Wish me luck! Again, complicated little plants!

They aren't really, but as long as you can give them a sunny site with decent drainage, they'll cope with any rain they get.
If you have a normally drier climate where you are, you can water if they're needing it   :)

@Fairygirl, drier climate? Lol, I wish. England isn’t a dry country.

No - but the south and east is. I hadn't realised you were in Yorkshire.
I can assure you we have no shortage of water where I live, even in drier years   ;)

I know, Scotland is madness! And I complain about the rain in England. I should always think about Scotland first. Lol.

If you can keep your soil as well drained as possible, your carnations will be fine. It's just about getting the conditions as near as you can to their preference.
They're always seen as slightly old fashioned plants for some reason, but they're a delight  :)
My grandpa always grew them in his little garden, and although I don't grow the taller ones now [I had the aforementioned Mrs Sinkins in a previous garden]  I love dianthus, and always have them.
    Good luck !  :)
We've actually had a very dry June this year, and Loch Ness was at it's lowest level for five years. My older daughter's birthday is the 4th of July, and it's rarely nice on her birthday. That's what she gets for being 2 weeks late  ;)
