Help! I’ve a small’ish lawn that is absolutely infested with ant nests . 15 at last count.  I have 2 cats and don’t want to use ant powder for multiple reasons but the grass is dying, difficult to mow and full of lumps and bumps. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thoroughly soaking it will help, and keeping it watered for while if you don't get much rainfall. Ants like dry conditions.
You may need to reseed later after sorting the levels out.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

My garden and porch, part of the conservatory are really overun with ants, this year. Inspite of several days heavy rain,my pots of dahlias are full of the blasted things,my neighbor said put boiling water on them well I can hardly do that on a plastic plant pot, never mind indoors. We have used NIPPON powder and spray, hasn't touched them

Terro makes an outdoor ant bait my parents have used with success.  It is a liquid in a bait box on a short stake you just poke in the ground near or on the nest.  Fully enclosed to be safe from pets or older children.  I use the boiling water on the nests in our patio.. but I've had a number of ant hills in our yard this year as well, so might pick up a few bait boxes for my yard as well.

I also use a liquid bait, it comes in a little tube that looks like superglue. You can squeeze some inside a small bottle and leave it near the nest or into any other container that the cats can't get into. They shouldn't be interested in it anyway as it's sugar based but better safe than sorry.

I have had some success this year using Home Defence Ant Stop! Bait Stations where there is always an ant problem along the edges of our path.  You can use these stations indoors and outside.  The only problem with them is that they are fairly expensive - I think I paid about £4 for a pack of two - but they say they last for 3 months.  I don’t think they would cover a small lawn though.
